Dear Friends:
Greetings from Daisy Farms! We are a small fruits nursery in Dowagiac Michigan. We're located in Cass County in Southwestern Michigan.
As I looked out early this morning to view my farm I noticed a heavy frost had settled on the fields from last night. Heavy frosts helps to send our plants into a dormant state. This is the time of the year when we need to get our plants out of the ground and into cold storage at 28 degrees F. Then they can be sorted and graded indoors during the cold winter months. The plants this year are excellent in quality.
Two additional strawberry varieties will be available this coming season. From New York State comes Herriot having been tested as NY99-21. We personally fruited this for two growing seasons and will be including it in our berry production. California has released San Andreas. This day-neutral shows great promise with better early production than Albion. Berries are large and very good flavored. Both varieties are worthy of testing in your fields.
I believe there is a future with the products that you and I produce. We definitely need a better diet for all Americans, and the trends seem to indicate that many of the people are willing to pay more for fresh and flavorful harvests.
Soil rich in humus and nutrients will give you these qualities. I'm a firm believer in enriching your soil first. If you have questions, we will try to help you, or get you to someone that may have the answers you need.
Our product line continues to change as new varieties are developed by various breeding programs. Some varieties are no longer available or are sold out. Please check the plant list or call before ordering.
We look forward to serving you this year. Best wishes for a successful and safe 2012 growing season.
Sincerely

Mr. David D. Daisy
